Rebuild team OOO visibility without rebuilding Clockwise.

A shared absence calendar is a narrower problem than calendar optimization, and it does not require a leave-management system.

Clockwise teams could subscribe to a calendar that synchronized teammates' OOO and working-from-home events. Primary teams could also receive OOO updates through Slack.

Separate the 3 jobs

Source

Connected teammates create ordinary out-of-office events in their own calendars.

Shared view

A team calendar shows current and upcoming absences without exposing unrelated event content.

Notification

A scheduled digest summarizes absences at a team-owned destination.

Leave administration

Balances, requests, entitlements, and approvals belong in an HR or leave system, not this workflow.

Current replacement paths

Reclaim Business

Reclaim documents a Team OOO Calendar on its Business and Enterprise plans. It is the stronger option when Team OOO must sit beside Focus Time, Smart Meetings, calendar sync, and broader administration.

Weekstead closed beta

Weekstead's beta includes shared-calendar Team OOO synchronization for connected Google Workspace users and an optional scheduled Slack digest. Weekstead does not manage leave. Its separate Slack Status capability sets each connected user's own Slack status.

Manual shared calendar

A small team can maintain a shared calendar manually. This is often enough when absences are infrequent and someone clearly owns upkeep.

Weekstead fit and limits

  • Google Workspace is the public beta provider.
  • Each synchronized person connects a calendar and counts as a paid user after trial.
  • Viewers and digest recipients do not consume seats.
  • Source OOO events are not edited by the shared-calendar workflow.
  • A Slack digest is not real-time Slack status sync.
